At Project Chat Roux, the works included a carefully considered refurbishment of a terraced house, replacing the existing infill extension with a contemporary rear addition that brings greater light, openness, and spatial quality to the kitchen space, while large glazed oak doors strengthen the connection to the patio.
Natural light pours into the new kitchen extension through a large rooflight above, illuminating a rich palette of deep blue oak cabinetry, reclaimed iroko worktops, terrazzo flooring, and warm copper detailing. Bespoke etched glazing softly filters colour into the space, creating a visual connection between the front and rear of the house while forming the perfect perch for the family cat.
The new glazed double-door opening between the hallway and dining area redefines the flow of the ground floor, drawing natural light deep into the space. An existing doorway between the kitchen and dining room was reinterpreted as a bespoke multi-coloured etched glass window, designed by us to reflect the palette used throughout the house while maintaining a visual connection between the spaces.
The refurbished bathroom is shaped around a soft palette of warm yellow tones, with painted cladding and tadelakt shower walls creating a sense of calm continuity throughout the space. Marble mosaic flooring introduces subtle texture and colour underfoot, while oak joinery and a matching bath surround bring warmth, tactility, and a quiet sense of comfort to the room.
